Race against loss

Heritage is fragile. Some records survive only on a single original carrier, or are showing the first signs of decay. This page highlights the items our collection has identified as most at risk - the ones a digitisation effort should reach first, before they are lost.

Each item is flagged from transparent catalogue signals - for example, having no preservation copy yet, a recorded condition of poor or fragile, or a note of decay. The priority shown (High, Medium or Low) reflects how strongly those signals combine. It is an awareness aid, not a verdict, and it reflects only what has been catalogued so far.
